Home Cleansing Ritual
Intention: Refresh a space after illness, conflict, or a move
Ingredients / Materials
- A window you can open
- Dried rosemary, sage or incense
- A bowl of salt water
- A bell or your hands to clap
- A candle
Method
- Tidy and physically clean first, since magic works best in a clear space.
- Open windows and doors briefly to let stale air leave.
- Starting at the front door, walk through the home clockwise with the smoke, ringing the bell or clapping in corners.
- Sprinkle a little salt water in each room's corners or wipe surfaces lightly with it (test on fabrics first).
- Finish by lighting a candle in the centre of the home and saying what you want the space to hold.
Safety
If anyone in the home has asthma or sensitivities, skip the smoke and use sound, salt water, and fresh air instead.
Fire safety: burn only in a heat-proof dish, never leave flames unattended, and keep away from curtains, paper, and pets.
