1. What the Grimoire is
The Grimoire is a shared library of spells, rituals, recipes, correspondences, lists and references about magic, spirituality and folklore. People write entries and choose who can read them: only themselves, a group, or everyone. These terms cover the website, the installable web app and the mobile apps (together, "the Grimoire").
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough in your country to agree to these terms. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use the Grimoire only with a parent or guardian's permission. You are responsible for your account and your password; tell us if you think someone else has access to it.
3. Your content
You own what you write. By setting an entry to Public you allow the Grimoire to display it to anyone and allow other people to save a personal copy of it. By sharing it with a Group you allow that group's members to read it. Private entries are visible only to you and to administrators (see section 6). You can change an entry's visibility or delete it at any time. Copies other people already saved of a public entry stay with them, without your name attached once your account is deleted.
Only post what you have the right to share. Do not copy other people's books, courses or writing without permission. Traditional practices, folklore and your own experience are welcome.
4. Rules
The Grimoire is meant to be a welcoming place to learn and share. You agree not to post or do any of the following:
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or targeting a person or group, including hate or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion (including any faith or tradition), gender, sexuality, disability or similar traits
- Sexual or sexually explicit content, and anything that sexualizes minors (this will be reported to the authorities)
- Content that promotes violence, self-harm, or illegal activity, or that reveals other people's private information
- Instructions that could seriously hurt someone, such as directions to consume poisonous or dangerous substances, or to harm people or animals
- Spam, advertising, scams, or attempts to sell products or services; impersonating another person
- Trying to break, overload or gain unauthorized access to the service or other people's accounts
Differences in belief and practice are expected here. Disagree respectfully, and use Block if you would rather not see someone's entries.
5. Reporting, blocking and enforcement
Every entry you can read has a Report option. Reports are reviewed by the Grimoire's administrators, normally within 24 hours, and we remove content that breaks these rules. We may also remove any content, suspend or delete accounts, or remove people from groups, at our discretion and without notice, especially for repeated or serious violations. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.
You can block any person from their entries or from your account page. Blocked people's entries are hidden from you everywhere. Blocking is private; they are not told.
6. Administrators
Administrators can view every entry and group, including private ones, and can edit or delete entries and manage groups so they can respond to reports, support requests and abuse. They are asked to use that access only for moderation, support and keeping the service running. If you need something to stay completely secret, keep it out of the Grimoire.
7. Not advice; use common sense
Entries are written by community members for spiritual, cultural and entertainment purposes. They are not medical, legal, psychological or professional advice, and we do not check them for accuracy or safety. Many ingredients (herbs, essential oils, incense, candles, fire, foods) can be harmful if misused, if you are pregnant, have allergies or medical conditions, or if children or pets are around. Do your own research, take care with fire and anything you put in or on your body, and speak to a qualified professional about health or legal matters. You use anything you read here at your own risk.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from Your account in the website or the app. Doing so permanently deletes your profile, your entries, your saved copies and your group memberships. Groups you own pass to another member (or are deleted if you were the only member). Backups that already exist are overwritten within about a week. We may also delete or suspend accounts that break these rules.
9. The service and our liability
The Grimoire is provided "as is" and "as available", with no promise that it will always be online, error-free or that content will never be lost. To the fullest extent the law allows, the Grimoire's operator is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, for content posted by users, or for anything that happens because you followed an entry. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. If the changes matter, we will ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in. Continuing to use the Grimoire after that means you accept them.
11. Contact
For content problems, use the in-app Report button. For anything else, use the contact details on the Grimoire's store listing or website.
