Ingredients / Materials

  • 1 fresh orange
  • About 30 whole cloves
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Ribbon, about 30 inches
  • A toothpick

Correspondences

Method

  1. Use the toothpick to poke small holes in the orange in a pattern you like: rings, stripes, or a spiral.
  2. Press a clove into each hole.
  3. Roll the orange in cinnamon, shaking off the excess.
  4. Tie the ribbon around it and hang it in a dry, airy spot.
  5. As you hang it, say: "Warmth and welcome to this home."

Care

It dries and shrinks over a few weeks and keeps its scent. Retire it when it is fully dry and compost it.

Decorative only. Do not eat.
