The Archangels

Intention: Ask for significant guidance delivered with real purpose

Offerings & Symbols

  • A trumpet image
  • A significant written message
  • Something delivered with real purpose

Culture: Christian and Jewish angelology (used both as a rank and as the specific title of Michael, Gabriel and others)

Archangel refers both to a specific angelic rank, second from the bottom in the traditional nine-fold Christian hierarchy but understood as carrying uniquely significant divine messages, and, colloquially, to the small set of highly named angels like Michael and Gabriel who function at this level of importance across traditions.

Associations

Significant messages, purposeful guidance, standing closely between the human and heavenly.

Ways people honor this rank (modern)

  • Deliver a genuinely important message or piece of guidance with real care
  • Research the specific named archangels most central to your own area of study
  • Keep a trumpet or messenger image on the altar
  • Note how "archangel" is used both as a specific rank and as a general honorific across sources

Approach any deity with respect and do your own research. Practices vary widely between traditions, and modern devotional practice often goes beyond what survives in ancient sources.
