Making and Using Moon Water
Intention: How to make moon water, and what it is and isn't good for
What it is
Moon water is ordinary water left out overnight under the Moon, then used in ritual. Many people make it at the Full Moon, or at the New Moon for fresh starts.
Making it
- Choose a clean glass jar with a lid. Fill it with filtered or spring water.
- Set your intention for it and cap the jar.
- Leave it on a windowsill or outdoors overnight where the Moon can reach it. Bring it in before dawn if you like.
- Label the jar with the date and use it within a couple of weeks.
Ways people use it
- Anointing candles or tools
- Adding to a ritual bath
- Wiping down an altar
- Watering house plants
What to know
- Moon water is a ritual tool, not a medicine or a substitute for clean drinking water.
- Do not put crystals or herbs in water you plan to drink unless you have checked they are water-safe. Some stones and plants are toxic or dissolve.
- Outdoor water can collect bugs and dirt. Keep the lid on.
Nothing here is medical advice. When in doubt, use the water externally.
