Diana

Intention: Honor the wild and independent strength

Offerings & Symbols

  • A silver object
  • An arrow image
  • Wildflowers

Culture: Ancient Roman   Domain: The hunt, the moon, wild places, women's independence

Diana closely parallels Artemis and was especially honored at her sanctuary at Lake Nemi (the "Diana Nemorensis"), a site with a famously strange rule of succession for its priesthood. She was also a patron of enslaved people and the lower classes on her festival day, a role with no direct Greek equivalent.
